15th August 2020, the former Indian captain MS Dhoni announced himself retired from the international cricket.
The young boy from Ranchi, who made ODI debut in 2004, changed
the entire face of Indian cricket with his ice-cool attitude under nerve-racking
pressure, brilliant game understanding, great thinking, and shrewd leadership
qualities. While the fans still expected to watch the skipper play in the blue
Indian jersey, the news of his retirement came as a shock for all.
Captain cool announced retirement in his own style by sharing
a montage on his Instagram profile, he wrote-
“Thanks a lot for your love and support throughout from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired.”
MS Dhoni
The former Indian international cricketer, MS Dhoni, captained
the Indian national team in limited over formats from 2007 to 2016; in Test cricket
from 2008 to 2014.
Being the lucky charm for the Indian cricket team, the captain
won 2007 ICC World Twenty20, 2010 and 2016 Asia Cups, 2011 ICC Cricket World
Cup, and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. The right-handed middle-order batsman,
wicket-keeper, and best Indian captain so far, Dhoni is one of the highest run-scorers
in ODIs.
MS Dhoni has played 350 ODIs (scoring 10773 runs at an average
of 50.57) and 98 T20 Internationals (T20Is).
Captain cool was always considered for his “effective
finishing style” and the last ball six. While he announced his retirement from
international cricket, the skipper will be seen playing this IPL.
Awards and Titles
Dhoni has always been the recipient of many titles and awards in his cricket career. The list of awards includes- ICC ODI Player of the Year (2008 and 2009), the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award (2007), the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honor (2009), and the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian honor (2018).
Besides this, Dhoni was named as the captain of ICC World Test XI (in 2009,2010, and 2013); was selected 8 times in ICC World ODI XI teams (5 times as captain).

and 829 dismissals accounted in captain cool’s name, he will always remain
India’s favorite.
Suresh Raina Retires…
Just a few minutes after former Indian captain announced his
retirement on Instagram, another great Indian cricketer Suresh Raina followed
the suit.
Winning the 2011 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, Raina has always been an indispensable part of MSD’s white-ball side for a major part of his career.
Posting on Instagram, the left-handed batsmen and a perfect
fielder for the Indian team, Raina wrote-
“It was nothing but lovely playing with you, @mahi7781. With
my heart full of pride, I choose to join you on this journey. Thank you, India.
Jai Hind!”
Obviously, India will miss the game of these two superstars cricket champs in Indian cricket. But we wish them a prosperous future ahead!
