The Queensland government made it clear that not abiding by the protocols is not an option for the Indian team.
The reports are emerging about Team India's reluctance to play the fourth and final Test of the ongoing series against Australia in Brisbane due to harsh bio-security protocols. The Queensland government has come up with a blunt response, stating that the visiting team should not enter the state if they are unwilling to coordinate with the protocols that have been laid out.
On Sunday, reports emerged that the team wasn’t keen on traveling to Brisbane if their players are forced to undergo quarantine. The Indian team has already served their 14-day mandatory quarantine period and they don’t want more restrictions imposed on the mentally worn-out players. This is why - India might prefer the fourth Test also being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground. However, members of the Queensland government have clearly stated - that not abiding by the rules is not an option.
"If the Indians don't want to play by the rules, don't come," said Ros Bates (Queensland's Health Shadow Minister).
With uncertainty growing large over the fourth test between India and Australia in Brisbane, members of the Queensland government have reportedly insisted the Indian contingent not travel to the state capital.
"If the Indian cricket team wants to spit the dummy and disregard quarantine guidelines in Brisbane for the fourth Test, then they shouldn't come. The same rules must apply to everyone. Simple," Mander said.
Five Indian players - Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, and Navdeep Saini - have been put under isolation as a precautionary measure after they visited a restaurant in Melbourne.
In a report to Australian media, Australia batsman Matthew Wade has also said - the hosts are looking forward to the Gabba Test and willing to make sacrifices to follow the schedule.
“We’d love to be running outside in Australia like everybody is doing right now ... but we understand that we need to make some sacrifices to get this tour done,” Wade told the media.
The ongoing series is currently tied at 1-1 with Australia winning the first Test (Adelaide) while India registering a win in the second test (Melbourne). And the third Test of the series will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground from Thursday.
