Hansal Mehta was severely trolled after he took to Twitter, questioning the Covid-19 state of Pakistan. A Twitter user even bought him a one-way ticket to Karachi via Dubai.
Amid the rising cases of Covid-19 in India, the lockdown was imposed in several states on Sunday to fight the second wave. After mocking the sadhus of Kumbh Mela, Hansal Mehta took to Twitter asking if the condition was as bad in Pakistan as it is in India. The filmmaker was then trolled badly by the Twitter users for his pointed jibe. Of course, attempting to assert that the conditions in Pakistan were better than in India.
To this, a netizen, Dev Mehta quickly offered the first-class, one-way ticket to Pakistan if Mehta agreed to move out of the country permanently since he considered the situation in our neighboring country to be better.
Several Twitter users trolled Hansal Mehta for comparing India and Pakistan, asking him to move to the neighboring country if he felt that was safer.
What Did Hansal Mehta Speak?
It all started with Hansal Mehta’s tweet that raised a question pointing out if the number of cases in Pakistan was fewer compared to the rising numbers in India. The tweet read: “Just wondering. Is it bad in Pakistan as it is in India currently? The COVID situation I mean.”
The tweet went viral after a Twitter user offered Hansal Mehta- a first-class, one-way ticket to Pakistan- if they are ready to move out permanently to the neighboring country.
Mehta asked the Twitter user to instantly book his ticket and offered to share his bank details in case the user was willing to transfer the ticket amount.
The user then put the condition that Mehta would have to pay him 10 times the ticket amount if he chose to return back to India. While the banter continued asking the user to transfer the money first and put conditions later, the netizen actually did it.
Surprisingly, the user booked the ticket from Mumbai to Dubai and Dubai to Pakistan for the 20th of April under Hansal Mehta’s name.
What Happened Then?
Hansal’s tweet came right after it was reported that several people, who had attended the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, had now tested positive for Covid-19. This offended a section of Twitter users. While several users praised Dev Mehta for 'exposing' Hansal's true intentions in comparing the two nations, many even pointed at a gang of 'Bollywood guys' who 'sing songs' of Pakistan while residing in India.
Even Suresh Nakhua, the official spokesperson of the BJP Mumbai, tweeted asking if Hansal was planning to move to Pakistan.
Hansal Mehta Tries To Hit Back At Trolls!
The director has been replying to almost every troll tweet with a standard response, asking them to share proof of ticket payment. “Please provide proper and valid proof of payment,” he wrote in reply to several users.
He also tweeted a screenshot of the Emirates booking site, clarifying that there were no details of the booking, as claimed by the Twitter user.
The filmmaker further made a tweet: "Our nation is ravaged by a deadly virus. Our healthcare system is collapsing. Our dead have no place to be cremated. What do people supposedly supporters/members of the ruling party do? Abuse. Troll. Get well soon dears. Take care. Look after yourselves and your loved ones."
This morning, April 19, 2021, Hansal made a tweet tagging Sharjah Police, the UAE Police, and Emirates Airlines asking them to take action against Dev Mehta who has issued a fake ticket in their name. He wrote, "Dear @ShjPolice @UAEPoliceHQ Am reporting this person with handle @Dev73513666 whose name is allegedly Dev Mehta. He has issued a fake @emirates ticket, is inciting hate, and issuing threats against Muslims. He claims to be based in Sharjah. Please investigate."
